They address&nbsp;significant topics in their ten virtual sessions,&nbsp;such as the question of Germany&#8217;s role in securing international cohesion or the country&#8217;s performance in EU migration policy.&nbsp;On 19 March 2021, the recommendations of the Citizens&#8217; Council&nbsp;will be submitted&nbsp;to the German Bundestag, which will forward them to the specialist committees for deliberation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 20 January 2021,&nbsp;Imme&nbsp;Scholz, Deputy Director of the German Development Institute \/ Deutsches Institut f\u00fcr Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) acted as an expert&nbsp;for the Citizens&#8217; Council on the&nbsp;issue&nbsp;of &#8220;Sustainable Development&#8221;.&nbsp;Drawing on her expertise in environmental and climate research, particularly the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, she illustrated the relevance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)&nbsp;as a target horizon for the sustainable shaping&nbsp;of Germany&#8217;s external relations.&nbsp;The involvement of experts such as&nbsp;Imme&nbsp;Scholz&nbsp;serves&nbsp;as&nbsp;a basis of information for further debate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their presentations&nbsp;will be&nbsp;published&nbsp;in a transparent process on the YouTube channel of&nbsp;Mehr&nbsp;Demokratie&nbsp;e.V.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/deutschlands-rolle.buergerrat.de\/buergerrat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">More information<\/a> on the German Citizens\u2019 Council.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The second German Citizens&#8217; Council was established at the beginning of 2021: from now on, 160 people will discuss the important questions of our time and formulate recommendations for action to German policymakers.
