As part of the \u201cForced Migration and Refugee Studies: Networking and Knowledge Transfer<\/strong>\u201d (FFVT) cooperation project<\/strong><\/p>\n you are cordially invited\u00a0to a \u201cContestation over migration and rights in the context of forced displacement – How do we study it?\u201d<\/strong> on December 6<\/strong>, 2021 (17:00h – 18:30h CET)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The podium discussion precedes the FFVT scholarly workshop\u00a0\u201cForced migration and dynamics of political mobilisation: conceptual approaches, comparative and case studies\u201d on 7 December 2021. While the workshop\u00a0focuses on issues such as diaspora mobilisation, political mobilisation for rights and acts of citizenship, as well as transnational refugee protection versus contentious politics over (im)migration, the podium discussion intends to explore and reflect on academic approaches to study these phenomena.<\/p>\n For this purpose, scholars form different disciplinary backgrounds \u2013 migration, conflict and social movement studies as well as a researcher-activist \u2013 will<\/p>\n (1) present their individual research angle on the displacement-related contestation in origin- transit- and settlement contexts,<\/p>\n (2) discuss disciplinary intersections and boundary-making, and<\/p>\n (3) identify gaps and shortcomings in the study of political mobilisation and contention over migration and rights in the context of forced displacement.<\/p>\n FFVT aims to strengthen interdisciplinary research on refugees and forced migration in Germany. To this end, the cooperation project brings together research on migration, development, conflict and violence, climate change, health, governance and human rights and other topics. Thereby, FFVT supports the networking of institutions and researchers working on the topic of forced migration and refugees as well as the dialogue between academia, practitioners, the media and politics. FFVT partner institutes are the Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies (BICC), the Centre for Human Rights Erlangen Nuremberg (CHREN, University of Erlangen Nuremberg), the German Development Institute \/ Deutsches Institut f\u00fcr Entwicklungspolitik (DIE, Bonn) and the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS, Osnabr\u00fcck University) and it is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.<\/p>\n
