Ernst Ulrich von Weizs\u00e4cker<\/strong> is a German environmental scientist and former Co-President of the Club of Rome. From 1998 to 2005, he was a member of the German Bundestag. He was the founding Director of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy.<\/p>

This event is organized under the umbrella of the Bonn Alliance for Sustainability Research<\/a> within the program line \u201cSustainability \u2013 Looking Beyond 2030<\/a>\u201d in cooperation with the German Development Institute \/ Deutsches Institut f\u00fcr Entwicklungspolitik (DIE)<\/a>, the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS)<\/a>, and the Center for Development Research (ZEF)<\/a>.<\/p>

The event opens the lecture series „50 years „The Limits to Growth“ \u2013 Prospects in 1972 and 2022″<\/strong><\/a> on the occasion of the 50th<\/sup> anniversary of \u201cThe Limits to Growth\u201d report to the Club of Rome (1972) organized by the Bonn Alliance for Sustainability Research with its partner institution the German Development Institute \/ Deutsches Institut f\u00fcr Entwicklungspolitik (DIE). The lectures take on central issues of the report, such as agriculture, natural resources, energy, technological innovations and the science of foresight.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Until 1972, environmental protection was essentially local; \u201cThe Limits to Growth\u201d was the breakthrough to global environmental policy.
